Cometin

Cometin is a growing collection of tweaks and tricks to optimize your productivity and improve the android experience.

I can create a separate app for every idea I have. But why shouldn't I put everything in 1 app? Google announced Dynamic Modules at the IO in 2019 With dynamic features you can split an app into several parts. This is exactly what Cometin is. Cometin is a growing collection of tricks and tweaks for your Android device, split into modules. This way you only download the features that you want to use and save your storage space.

A UI that flows

Cometin has by far the most intuitive design I have ever made. Together with JustPlayingHard, RKBDI and Hrx03 I created a design that makes your mouth water.

Add your own designed Always On Display functionality, wave to wake and an ambient display to every phone.

How it works:
This module allows you to design a custom ambient display that pops up when you receive a notification. This module is listening for new notifications. When a new notification comes in and the screen is turned off it will display an animation followed up by the message (optional)

Permissions used:
• Notification access, for listening for new notifications and displaying info
• Modify system settings, for temporarily changing the screen timeout to prevent the ambient display for displaying too long*
• Draw over other apps, required to show the lock screen on Android 10 devices

Ways to activate:
• Receive a notification
• Through the QS-tile (toggle the service)

Other notes:
• The current available animations are locked and cannot be sideloaded from files. This is planned for a possible future update.
• Please disable your built-in ambient display if available

What animations are supported?
Lottie animations are the only supported animations for now.

*This permission is optional, when Cometin does not have this permission it will use the default screen timeout setting

Lock apps behind a passcode, pattern or your fingerprint to prevent anyone with access to your phone from accessing these apps.

How it works:
This module allows you to lock applications with a pattern or password for an extra layer of security. It detects what application is on screen and shows an unlock screen on top of apps you mark as locked.

Permissions used:
• Drawing over other apps, these are required to show the unlock screen over the locked apps.
• Usage access, used to detect what app is being used.

Ways to activate:
• Turn module on/off using the QS tile
• Open a locked app

Use any app in any orientation and add the ability to rotate your phone 180 degrees.

How it works:
This module allows you to support or force all screen orientations for all apps (including reversed portrait, 180 degrees)

Permissions used:
• Drawing over other apps, these are required to force a specific screen orientation
• Modify system settings, for changing the screen rotation settings
• App usage, to detect what apps you are using (optional for app-based configuration)

Ways to activate:
• Through the QS-tile
• Through the app

Other notes:
• Make sure to stop the service in order to use the default rotation settings

Keep your screen awake for a while. Or lock your phone after a while, perfect if you\'re watching a movie at night and afraid to fall asleep.

How it works:
The caffeine module makes it possible to keep the screen on for a certain time. You can also reverse the functionality and force the screen to turn off after a certain time. This is useful if, for example, you are watching a movie and want to make sure that your phone turns off after a certain time to prevent your phone from being on all night.

Permissions used:
• Wake locks, to keep your phone awake
• Device admin, to put your device to sleep*

Ways to activate:
• QS tile

*This permissions is only required when you enable the option to turn off the phone when the timer runs out

Is your screen too bright at night or in the cinema? No problem! This module makes your screen darker than ever. And has a blue light filter too!

How it works:
This module draws a dark overlay on top of your apps. This way you can achieve a much lower brightness.

Permissions used:
• Accessibility service, these are required to draw a dark overlay over other apps.

Ways to activate:
• Through the app
• Through the QS tile

Other notes:
• Due to restrictions in Android Oreo I cannot draw over the statusbar or the notification bar, this results in the notification panel not being affected and some overlapping issue for users watching 2:1 videos with a notch in their display.

Flip your phone face down on a flat surface to turn on DND. Pick it up and DND gets disabled. It will take approximately 5 seconds for DND to toggle. Alarms will still get through so don\'t worry about missing an alarm!

How it works:
Flip to shhh uses a combination of your proximity sensor and your accelerometer to detect when your device is face-down on a flat surface. If it is. It will turn on DND (Alarms only). If the phone is picked up DND turns off.

Ways to activate:
• Toggle the module using the QS-tile
• Through the app

Permissions used:
• DND access, for turning on/off Do Not Disturb.

Enough of all the messages popping onto your screen? Want a break? This module turns your notifications into silent notifications.

How it works:
This module dismissed and recreates notifications with minimum priority. This way heads-up notifications won\'t show up on your screen.

Permissions used:
• Notification access, these are required to read and recreate notifications.

Ways to activate:
• Through the app
• Through the QS tile

Other notes:
• Actions and replying is not possible when using this module.
• Ongoing notifications (the ones you can\'t swipe away) will not be minimized

Hide the navigation bar and status bar to get even more content on your screen.

How it works:
The Immersive module uses secure settings to hide your statusbar, navigationbar or both! This way you can enjoy the content on your screen even more. Simply swipe from the top or the bottom to temporarily show the bars again.

Permissions used:
• Secure settings
• App usage, to detect what apps you are using (optional for app-based configuration)

Ways to activate:
• QS tile
• Use a configured app
• Through the app

Change your location to whatever location you like! This module sets up a fake GPS location so other apps believes you are there.
Attention: this app was not designed to cheat on games, it\'s only for developer testing purposes.

How it works:
Set Cometin as your mock location app in the developer options, change your location from the module page and you\'re good to go!

Permissions used:
• Mock location, to mock your location
• Internet, to load the Google Map for selecting the location
• App usage, to detect what apps you are using (optional for app-based configuration)

Ways to activate:
• Through the app
• Through the QS tile

Other notes:
• This app was not designed to cheat on games, it\'s only for developer testing purposes. Do not use this app for cheating or any foul use. Make sure the app you use comply with using mock locations.

Separate work and personal apps. Or create a 2nd instance of your apps for multiple SIM cards.

How it works:
To setup a parallel environment a work profile will be set-up. A work profile is used to separate settings, data and apps from your already existing apps.
This allows you to install apps twice, and separate the settings (such as contacts and mail accounts). It\'s a great way to separate work data from private data.

Permissions used:
• Device admin permissions in the work profile, used to remove the work profile using the Cometin app

Ways to activate:
• Apps in the parallel environment are marked with a suitcase icon next to the app icon
• Work profile can be enabled/disabled through the QS tile

Prevent accidental touches when your device is in your pocket with pocket mode.

How it works:
Pocket mode prevents accidental touches by blocking the screen when the device is in your pocket.

Permissions used:
• Accessibility service, to draw on top of the lockscreen

Ways to activate:
• QS tile

Easily access your flashlight, launch an app and more by activating the assistant on your phone.

How it works:
You set this module as your phone\'s default assistant.
When activating the assistant (holding the home button for a long time or in some* cases a dedicated button) the set action will be executed.

Actions available:
• Switch to last used app
• Put phone to sleep **
• Press back button
• Open recent screen
• Go to home button
• Toggle between split-screen mode (Android N + required)\n
• Open notification panel
• Open power dialog
• Open Quick settings panel
• Take screenshot (Android P + required)
• Toggle flashlight
• Toggle rotation lock
• Launch any installed app or activity
• Toggle between ring, vibrate and silent mode
• And more!

Ways to activate:
• Long press the home button or activate the assistant another way
* Samsung and LG devices have a dedicated assistant button, however due to how LG and Samsung call Assistant its NOT possible to remap those buttons

Permissions used:
• ** Locking the phone on Android Oreo and lower required device admin permissions
• Accessibility permissions, these are used for performing certain actions and will only be used when necessary.

So you see people with motorola phones flexing by shaking their phone to toggle their flashlight? Or to open their camera? You can too now! But instead of limiting to the camera or flashlight you can do much and much more! ⬇️

Oh, and you can decide the sensitivity as well.

How it works:
Shake actions simply listens to your sensors to detect a shake. That\'s it.

Actions available:
• Switch to last used app
• Toggle between split-screen mode (Android N + required)
• Open notification panel
• Open power dialog
• Open Quick settings panel
• Take screenshot (Android P + required)
• Toggle flashlight
• Toggle rotation lock
• Launch any installed app or activity
• Toggle between ring, vibrate and silent mode
• And more!

Ways to activate:
• Toggle the module using the QS-tile
• Shake!

Permissions used:
• Accessibility permissions, these are used for performing certain actions and will only be used when necessary.

Sync your notifications, send websites from your phone to your PC and take your memo\'s everywhere you go.

How it works:
Cometin Sync uses Cometin Cloud to store information for your PC to receive it, such as newly received notifications. Cometin Sync lets you choose what information to sync.
Please note: The Cometin desktop extension is required to use sync information and setup Cometin Cloud

Actions available:
• Sync notifications
• Share text and urls to your desktop
• Save and access sticky notes

Ways to activate:
• Toggle the module using the QS-tile
• By receiving a notification (if notification sync is enabled)
• Through the Android share menu
• Note app on the launcher (if enabled)

Permissions used:
• Notification access, for listening for new notifications and sending these notifications to Cometin Cloud

Enough modules to keep you busy

0 modules and counting

Modules take a lot of time to create and test. Each phone works in its own way and modules therefore do not always work well on every phone. At the moment there are 14 modules.
